HONG KONG ARCHITECTURAL DISCOVERY 6 APRIL - 10 APRIL 2019
Who are We?
We are students of Master of Architecture 4th Year Universiti Sains Malaysia. Our small community is passionate about architecture and eager to express our ideas. We are guided by 2 lovely lecturers that have been like parents to us. Architecture is our life and our life is architecture. We called ourselves the Wolfpaxkstudio. We emphasise on team spirit, gain knowledge from each other, and never leave anybody behind. That is what a pact of wolves do.
Architectural Discovery
We plan to create an Architectural Discovery Trip to help us further understand how architecture works. This is the kind of knowledge that we cannot get just by being in the classroom and the knowledge that we need to experience first hand.
For most people, they see us sightseeing, but our sightseeing is not like others. We learn so much from a simple trip, even to Tesco or Ikea. And travelling around is what architects around the world do to update themselves with latest architecture and social values.
1st Discovery Landed at Hong Kong
Hong Kong promotes diverse architecture style, from traditional chinese architecture to modern days architecture. No doubt about it. Such diverse culture is different than Penang or Kuala Lumpur. This is the main reason we choose Hong Kong to kickstart our discovery.
We will be visiting architect firms to get the insights of the professionals on how to sustain the urban fabric in the city with unique cultures and social background. It is important to address these insights as part of an important elements as our country is moving towards a better, larger city.
We will be able to discover Hong Kong skyscrapers that paints the beauty of Hong Kong skyline, and the highlight of our discovery, the sustainable housing in Hong Kong. We will explore the architecture behind the sustainable housing despite being a compact and expensive home living. Some people called it the coffin homes, the micro-apartments has been a major puller as our study.
Travelling Outcome
We hope by the end of this visit, we are able to analyse the impacts of rampant development in a city, ideas on how to tackle social and cultural interaction with modern and contemporary buildings and expand their knowledge of architecture of outside the country. As a successful professional architect, they are able to expand their wings overseas as they have acquired the knowledge despite the short programme.
Why Do You Have to be Part of the Dream Come True Team?
However, like many of us, there are the underprivileged ones with big hearts and passionate to contribute to Malaysia's architecture. It is our duty to help each other, share our sources and get on our feet to keep moving.
We created worshops, selling food and make events to raise our fund. But we are still too short.
Just like us, Malaysians have big and warm hearts. We truly believe we could win the heart of Malaysians to help making our dream come true.
Budget Plan
As Hong Kong living expenses are high, cost of our accommodation also affected and the highest. We opt to travel with public transport to further reduce our budget.
Your Advantages
We would like to share with the world that our contributors are you. We prepare a platform to make your names known to our other contributors, university, lecturers, families, and friends. We will be wearing your titles around Malaysia and Hong Kong on our shirts. We will give your marks to Hong Kong University and more on our souvenirs, and we will leave traces of your kindness in social media.
Those are nothing much to return back your huge contribution, but we want you to know a small contribution is another stepping stone to realising this discovery and we really do appreciate it so very much.
